Overview
<Solarsonic Band (Inst.)> is part of the Solarsonic Band series and presents the performances of instruments that, due to the climate crisis, have not yet been played on stage. The term “Inst. (instrumental)” hints at the possibility of instruments existing and performing without human presence. In the video, the instruments respond to non-human climatic elements — such as solar heat, lightning, and fine dust — drifting through the climate system in which humanity lives. Through this, the work imagines a “climate rehearsal”: a performance before performance, staged in anticipation of what is yet to come.

<솔라소닉 밴드(Inst.)>는 <솔라소닉 밴드> 연작으로, 기후 위기로 아직 공연되지 않은 악기들의 퍼포먼스를 영상으로 담고 있다. 보컬을 제외한 악기 소리들만을 포함한 연주곡의 형태를 뜻하는 ‘Inst.(instrumental)’는 인간 없이 존재하는 악기의 가능성을 암시한다. 영상 속 악기들은 태양열, 번개, 미세먼지 등 비인간적 기후 요소에 반응하며, 인류가 살아가는 기후계(climate system)를 유영한다. 작품은 이와 같은 설정을 통해, 공연 이전의 공연으로서 ‘기후 리허설’을 상상하게 한다.
