Overview
<Solarsonic Band>(2024-25) is a participatory performance powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and eXtended Reality (XR). Adapting through a range of technological means, the Band aims to continue their outdoor performances in the era of climate crisis — as long as the “sun” rises. The Band’s stage unfolds as a Virtual Reality (VR) environment traversing five climate systems — the lithosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, and atmosphere — where AI-generated band members rehearse their performance.
Audiences partake in the rehearsal as a “band lead” using the AR-based <Band Stand>, which audio-visualizes 3D interactive graphic scores, instruments, and remote communication with backstage staff. These elements highlight the polysemy of “performance” as artistic execution, collective climate action, and technological system capability.

<솔라소닉 밴드>(2024-25)는 확장현실(XR) 기반의 관객참여형 퍼포먼스입니다. 밴드는 기후 위기 시대 속 “태양”이 떠 있는 한 야외 공연을 계속 이어가고자 하는 끈기와 희망을 갖습니다. 가상현실(VR)이 투영된 무대에서, 밴드는 대기권, 수권, 암석권, 빙하권, 생물권이라는 기후 5권역을 순회하며 공연을 리허설합니다.
관객은 “밴드 리드”의 역할을 수행하도록 초대됩니다. 증강현실(AR) 기반 <밴드 스탠드>상의 악보를 매개삼아 밴드 단원들과 소통하며 리허설을 이끕니다. 기후 데이터를 토대로 구성된 이 악보는 밴드 리드의 실시간 상호작용과 수행에 따라 변주하는 기후 위기 시나리오이기도 합니다. 작품은 ‘퍼포먼스’ 용어의 다층적 의미 — 예술적 수행, 기후 위기 대응 지표, AI 시스템 성능 — 에 대한 사유를 드러내며, 기후 위기 시대 속 공동 행동을 “예행 연습(rehearsal)”하는 누구에게나 열린 공동체로서 존재합니다.
