Overview
<Innerveauty Spa>(2023) is an XR-based participatory performance, interoperating across PC-based VR and mobile AR. Addressing the lack of care centers and shelters for diverse mental states, the Spa welcomes customers of all neurotypes and offers a range of neuro-care services to help enhance their inner ‘beauty’. The Spa primarily conveys intimate stories of virtually-represented neurodivergent customers and workers.
The audiences are invited to perform as “spa managers” using the Spa’s own <Veauty Device>, implemented as mobile AR. The Device includes interactions such as “tuning in,” “channelling,” and “resonating” with the virtual customers’ requests. The managers are expected to perform like an opera orchestra that accompanies, chords with, and intermittently fills in the gaps in customers’ melodic voices. Ultimately, <Innerveauty Spa> envisions a near-future in which spaces that allow everyday sensing and embracing of neurodiversity have become universal.

<이너뷰티 스파>(2023)는 다양한 신경유형의 고객님들을 환영하며, 이들의 내면의 아름다움을 위한 각종 신경케어 서비스를 제공합니다. 관객은 <이너뷰티 스파>의 관리사 역할을 맡아, 가상현실(VR) 장치 속 묘사된 스파 관리실 곳곳을 이동하며 고객님들을 응대합니다. 또, 관객은 테이블 앞에 앉아 <이너뷰티 스파>가 자랑하는 증강현실(AR) 기반 서비스 태블릿을 활용, 고객님들을 위한 관리 메뉴얼을 수행합니다. 관리사의 주된 역할은 고객님들의 각종 요청에 “주파수 맞추기”, “채널링하기”, 그리고 이에 “공명하기” 등의 행위를 포괄합니다. 궁극적으로, <이너뷰티 스파>는 신경다양성을 일상적으로 감각하고 포용할 수 있는 장소들이 보편화된 근미래를 그립니다.
