Overview
Inspired by the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, <Koko Killing Island: Tour d’Epicure>(2022) invites audiences to board a VR-based tour vehicle and become eco-tourists traveling through a climate-transformed island. Their journey begins when they select a destination with the mouse, after which a virtual guide narrates the climate histories of each stop, the rise and fall of climate technologies and media, and the migration and relocation of vegetation used in the course meals served along the trip. Through this performative act of tourism and gastronomy, the work questions whether leisure, pleasure, and consumption can remain possible — or innocent — within ecological catastrophe, while examining how displacement, technology, waste, care, and responsibility are entangled in the climate crisis.

<코코 킬링 아일랜드: 식도락 투어>(2022)는 기후 위기 시대를 거친 몇 세기 뒤의 한 생태 관광지에서 “그저 마음 편히” 여행을 즐기는 관광객이 되어 볼 것을 — 그것이 과연 현재의 기후 위기 시대 속 관객으로서 가능할지 반문하며 — 요청합니다. 관객의 ‘관광객-되어보기’ 수행은 마우스로 행선지를 선택하는 순간 시작되며, 여행 중에는 가상 관광 가이드가 각 행선지에 대한 기후 위기 역사나, 기후 기술(Climate Tech) 매체의 발전과 쇠락 양상을 설명하고, 또 코코 킬링 아일랜드의 특산품으로 만들어진 코스 요리를 제공합니다.
