PLANNER, VIDEO ARTIST of <TechiEon>(2019), an AI- and AR-based Taekkyeon performance

<TechiEon> is a Taekkyeon performance – a traditional Korean martial arts and UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – that re-scales the biodiversity of eon, formed along with the development of human technology. Employing AI-based Augmented Reality (AR), sound generation, and Body Art, Taekkyeon Masters and digital artists overlap different senses of time and space in multi-layered media. The performance explores the organismic forms and effects of the media circulating in ecological and technological spheres of the planet. Such understanding of planetary interactions and dynamics among media and technology links to the underlying philosophy of Taekkyeon – “symbiosis” – that has its own history of over two millenniums. It aims to redistribute the senses towards the climate and habitus of the technological eons to come, while also encompassing human-nature history and its particular constructions.
